Alabama

Alaska

May be used for big game or small game during general season. Permitted during archery-only season for Physically Challenged. For more info go to:http://www.state.ak.us

Arizona

May be used for big game or small game during general seasons and during H.A.M. (Handgun, Archery, Muzzle loader) and fishing. Permitted in archery season by the Physically Challenged. For more info go to: http://www.gf.state.az.us

Arkansas

California

Colorado

Connecticut

Florida

Georgia

Hawaii

Idaho

Illinois

Legal for 62 and over during both gun and archery season, NO PERMIT REQUIRED. Permit is required for use by the Physically Challenged during archery season. Permitted for fishing. For more info go to: http://www.dnr.state.il.us

Indiana

Iowa

Kansas

Kentucky

Maine

Permitted in general firearms season for deer and bear. Permitted in archery season by the Physically Challenged. For more info go to: http://www.state.me.us/ifw/

Maryland

May be used by all hunters for four weeks of archery season, four weeks of gun season and an entire bow season in the Suburban Deer Archery Zones (Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George's counties). Massachusetts

Michigan

Crossbow may be used:
1) By any hunter age 12 and older during any hunting season in Zone 3 (southern Michigan), including the bow hunting season
2) By anyone 50 years of age or older during the Oct. 1 - Nov. 14 bow hunting deer season statewide
3) During any season in which a firearm may be used, for both big and small game statewide
4) Included in the regulations are limits on the velocity of the crossbow.  Crossbows used for hunting are restricted to no more than 350 feet per second.

Minnesota

Montana

Nebraska

Crossbows legal for all hunters in the deer archery seasons.

Pennsylvania

Crossbows are legal for all hunters in both the early and late archery deer season as well as the two day archery bear season.  Crossbows are also legal in all gun seasons.

Rhode Island

West Virginia

Wisconsin

Wyoming

Not recognized as a legal hunting weapon.

Northwest Territories:

Permitted during all archery seasons, considered archery equipment.

Nova Scotia:

Not recognized as a legal hunting weapon.

Not recognized as a legal hunting weapon.

Ontario:

Permitted during all archery seasons, considered archery equipment.

Pei:

Permitted during all archery seasons, considered archery equipment.

Quebec:

Permitted for use by the Physically Challenged during archery season. Permitted in archery season in special zones and during rifle season only.

Saskatchewan:

Permitted for use by the Physically Challenged during archery season and during rifle season only.

Yukon Territory:

Not recognized as a legal hunting weapon.
