2008-04-14

As the largest and oldest, Horton Manufacturing Company, L.L.C., Tallmadge, Ohio, has always lead the crossbow industry with innovation, and the reCon™ 175 leads the lineup for 2008. Utilizing reverse draw technology, the reCon™ 175 delivers maximum ballistic performance with virtually no recoil or the noise experienced with other crossbows. Most who shoot it for the first time simply respond, “Wow!”

Horton’s new reCon™ HD 175 package includes: a 4X32 Mult-A-Range Scope, premium steel scope rings, Hunter Elite Lite 4-Arrow Quiver, special cocking aid, four 17 inch reCon Strike Carbon Arrows with practice points, a service cable for string and cable change, and a look that will stop traffic. Featuring a MagPul CPR fully collapsible stock with five adjustable positions for length from 11.5 inches to 15 inches, the reCon’s overall length, collapsed stock to the outside of the stirrup is a mere 32 inches and only 35.5 inches with the stock fully extended. The reCon is a narrow 19 inches wide uncocked, and only 12.5 inches wide cocked. This small package delivers 326 f.p.s. with the 17 inch, 316 grain reCon Strike carbon arrow (74.58 foot pounds of energy), and 292 f.p.s. with Horton’s 416 grain Carbon Strike MX Hp 20 inch arrow (78.78 foot pounds of energy).

Other reCon features include: a MAGPUL Pistol Grip adjustable in thickness front to back to offer length of pull of 2.5, 2.7 or 2.85 inches, a solid one-piece machined aluminum railway hand guard with three MAGPUL XT rail panels that provide a rubbery grip surface for control; Picatinny rail located at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions to accept mounting accessories like the standard the folding vertical forward grip or other aftermarket products like lights, bi-pods or other specialty items required by hunters. The reCon’s pre-stretched synthetic cables, to minimize timing concerns, attach to fully machined aluminum wheels with two sealed, self lubricating roller bearings each, and synthetic pre-stretched string, all attached to Horton’s lifetime warranty limbs delivering maximum performance with trademarked dependability. The reCon™ HD 175 receiver and riser are machined out of a one-piece aircraft grade aluminum billet. Its barrel is a precision keyed, machined two-piece aluminum/Delrin® combination for maximum friction reduction, and houses the Talon ultra light matched grade trigger.

The reCon™ looks like no other crossbow and delivers Horton’s legendary performance, reliability and compactness. Speed and energy with the cost of bulkiness has never been an option with a Horton crossbow.
